Conference Announcement

Hexology is delighted to announce that its CEO and Founder Darrel Butlin and his colleagues Dr Oksana Yarema and Dr Gabriele Salciute-Civiliene have been selected to speak and participate in a panel discussion at the Victoria and Albert Museum’s conference: Ukrainian Cultural Heritage and UK Institutions: Shifting Perspectives and Practice.

The conference will take place on September 15th 2026, at the V&A South Kensington site in London.

In recognition of the extraordinary collaborative work Hexology and its talented international team from King’s College London and the Ternopil National Pedagogical University have produced – to preserve the cultural heritage and identity of Ukraine from erasure – we thank the V&A for this opportunity to present the Ukrainian cultural heritage collections we have curated, and discuss the impact of the geospatial media publishing platform Hexology has developed.

Internship on Global Digital Citizenship and Digital Cultural Curation of Global Heritage at Hexology

To present the details and scope of the project, its aims, methodology and impact, Darrel will be joined by Dr Yarema, Visiting Lecturer at King’s College London and Associate Professor at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University (Ukraine). Darrel and Dr Yarema led the team of interns through an intense content curation and publishing process, which produced an authentic series of high quality cultural heritage collections that were peer-reviewed for historical accuracy by Dr. Volodymyr Kitsak, the Dean of the Faculty of History at the Ternopil National Pedagogical University.

This collaborative project and its international team owes thanks to Dr Gabriele Salciute-Civiliene, Senior Lecturer in Digital Humanities at King’s College London, who stepped in to assemble the team and enable Hexology’s challenge brief to evolve into an: Internship on Global Digital Citizenship and Digital Cultural Curation of Global Heritage at Hexology.

Gabriele will be presenting her thoughts on safeguarding cultural heritage at the conference via a video recording. A special thanks is also given to immersive experience designer Robert Morgan who contributed to the draft of the initial challenge brief that propelled the project forward.

The collections that were curated during this project were in part built using the web app front-end user interface which has been developed using Innovate UK funding, awarded to Hexology via the DCMS Create Growth programme. This web app is currently used internally at Hexology and is undergoing further development, including the integration of a sovereign AI story-craft engine.

Tickets for the event are available via the V&A website and the programme is available here: Programme
