Inspiring the next generation of cultural heritage curators and content creators with the power and potential of Hexology, via the Global Digital Citizenship and Digital Cultural Curation of Global Heritage Internship has been a highly productive collaborative exchange. The cohort of fresh open-minded MA students from King’s College London who selected the London Architecture track, brought a wealth of ideas about how to interpret the challenge brief Hexology had set.
With only a basic understanding of how to create and post a collection of cultural heritage content into the location of London’s architectural sites, the group of Digital Humanities students began a journey into the realms of augmented reality, immersive experience design and digital place-making.
Steeped in over 2000 years of history, London’s heritage is loaded with rich and fascinating stories, and the London Architecture team took full advantage of that potential and have produced a broad spectrum of collections that span diverse perspectives. Their unique and novel voices and viewpoints of the world, shine through with such clarity and optimism, that they pushed the boundaries of Hexology’s geospatial microblogging medium.
Rooted in a rigorous academic foundation of university education, this group of content creators were forced into a professional media production environment with standards, deadlines and meticulous peer review processes.
Drafts were developed, revised and re-written over the 12 week internship period to create collections that have been honed into themes that the team of content creators are interested in, care about or have a purpose that they want to promote. They looked at the world around them and their content is a response that reflects their own life experience – and as some are international students, their outlook has exposed insights into their own value systems and home cultures – this was an unexpected outcome!
Congratulations – London Architecture Curators
