Hexology Wins Innovate UK DCMS Create Growth Award: Pioneering the Future of Geospatial Social Media and Augmented Reality

We are thrilled to announce that Hexology, a Brighton-based innovative company at the intersection of social media and augmented reality, has won the prestigious Innovate UK DCMS Create Growth Award. This recognition will support us in expanding our groundbreaking geospatial micro-blogging platform, which empowers you to post digital media into objects, spaces and places in the world around is for people to discover, experience, and explore.

Bridging the Physical and Digital Worlds together as one

Live in the app stores, Hexology is revolutionising how people interact with the spaces around them. Imagine walking through your favourite park, a museum, or a historic site and uncovering digital media such as text, images, audio, video, or next-generation immersive content – each one tied to a specific object, space, or place in the physical world. Our platform brings together social media and augmented reality to offer a unique interaction design that merges the physical and digital realms.

A New Class of Experience Design

Hexology has already garnered the attention of immersive experience designers, curators, and cultural institutions, who are using our platform to place digital cultural content into public spaces. Whether enhancing visitor experiences at a museum, curating content within a cityscape, or crafting a new form of public storytelling, Hexology allows users to build a living geospatial network of digital content that enriches people’s connection to the physical world around them.

Expanding Access: Hexology Wins Innovate UK DCMS Create Growth Award to Build the Upcoming Web App

As part of our growth strategy, we’re excited to announce that we are developing a new Web App front end interface to expand the reach and capabilities of the platform. This app will consist of two main components: the VIEWER and the BUILDER.

  • The VIEWER will allow people to explore Hexology’s geospatial content directly through a web browser on their smartphones, without needing to install our iOS or Android apps. This will open up Hexology to new audiences, making it easier for anyone to discover immersive content tied to specific locations.
  • The BUILDER will provide a professional desktop workspace for content creators, offering a streamlined environment for creating and managing large-scale geospatial AR installations. This tool will simplify the process for designers, curators, and cultural institutions, empowering them to craft more complex and immersive digital experiences.

A Platform for Cultural Institutions and Creative Industries

Hexology’s vision is to provide the platform that cultural institutions and creative industries need to engage audiences in dynamic, immersive ways. Our platform enables institutions to “write” content into the world around us – turning physical spaces into extraordinary destinations, enriching visitor attractions, and making culture, heritage, and community more accessible than ever before.

Winning the Innovate UK DCMS Create Growth Award is an exciting milestone on our journey to reshape how people interact with the world. We look forward to continuing our mission to combine technology, culture, and community in meaningful ways—bringing peak digital experiences into the heart of the physical world.
